چکیده
Seismic ambient noise sources have received increased attention recently, creating new possibilities to study the Earth's subsurface and atmosphere-ocean-solid Earth coupling. In efforts locate such using nonlinear finite-frequency inversions, methodological developments as pre-computed wavefields spatially variable grids were necessary. These make inversions feasible for secondary microseismic in a frequency range up 0.2 Hz on daily basis. By obtaining starting model inversion Matched Field Processing (MFP) we are able further steer toward acceptable global source models improve final result. Analysis of 1 year shows seasonal variations microseisms their dependence coupling due storm-induced ocean waves. We present web framework, seismic (SANS, sans.ethz.ch), where regional- global-scale SANS maps made available public. This enables implementation time-variable distributions into full-waveform tomography time-dependent monitoring methods. Additionally, it can act reference other studies that larger scale.

Event-driven Seismic Interferometry with Ambient Seismic Noise
SUMMARY By cross-correlating recordings of ambient seismic noise, one can retrieve the subsurface reflection response. The quality of the retrieved reflections would depend on the qualities of the ambient noise. In a previous study, we cross-correlated ambient-noise data recorded in a desert area in North Africa and showed that we retrieved reflections. This was done assuming that body-wave noi...

متن کاملThe characteristics of ambient seismic noise as a source for surface wave tomography
In this study, we cross-correlate waveforms of ambient seismic noise between 6 and 100 sec to study the origin of ambient seismic noise. We use one year of data recorded at numerical stations located in Europe, North America, and southern Africa. We measure the signal-to-noise ratios (SNR) of Rayleigh waves for positive and negative correlation time lags at periods of 8, 14, 25 and 50 sec to de...
